Winter Tea


Based on the principles of Ayurveda (Indian traditional science of holistic living), this recipe is great for winter season. When had on a regular basis, people who complain about their joints hurting in the cold season can benefit from this tea. Ginger, lemon, black pepper, and turmeric are all great ingredients to be consumed in winter. 

Serves: 2 

Ingredients

2 cups water

2 inch piece of fresh ginger root, peeled and diced

1/4 teaspoon of ground turmeric

1 Tablespoon of fresh lemon juice

1/8 teaspoon of ground black pepper

1 Tablespoon honey, preferably honey from local bees

 

Instructions

  • In a small sauce pan over medium heat, add water and ginger. Bring to a boil.
  • Once the mixture has come to a boil, add turmeric, lemon juice, and black pepper.  Make sure you stir it well so that there are no lumps.
  • Remove from heat, and add honey. Stir.
  • Strain in two cups using a tea strainer.
