3 cups dried shrimp, very small shrimp
1 large red onion, finely chopped
4 tablespoons oil
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder OR less if you like it less hot
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
Instructions
Dry saute dried shrimp in a wide pan, until it gets more dry. This will take about 5 minutes on medium heat, stirring every minute. Set aside and when it cools down a bit, using your fingers, crush the dried shrimp, as much as you can. Set aside.
Heat oil in the same pan, and when the oil is hot, saute onions for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Stir every minute.
Add all the powdered spices and saute for a minute. Add shrimp and mix, add lemon juice and chopped cilantro, and you may need a little bit of salt. Usually, dried shrimp has a ton of salt already, so only add salt if needed. Serve hot with lentils, rice or just bread.
