Makhani Recipes


Classic Makhani or Butter Chicken

Ready in 25 minutes  |  Serves 2-3 people  |  Difficulty Easy
Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound of boneless and skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce
  • ½ cup heavy cream (optional)
  • Sea or kosher salt
  • Garlic naan or Cumin Rice (also see video)
Preparation
  1. In a sauce pan over medium high heat, melt butter. Season chicken with sea salt and sauté for 7-8 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Add one jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce to chicken, coating the pieces in the sauce. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5-8 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. Serve with garlic naan or cumin rice and enjoy!

Butter Chicken Biryani

Ready in 60 minutes  |  Serves 2-3 people  |  Difficulty Medium
Ingredients
  • 2 cups white basmati rice, rinsed 3 times, drained and set aside
  • 1 teaspoon saffron soaked in ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup cilantro, chopped
  • ¼ cup mint leaves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • ½ cup water
  • Sea or kosher salt, to taste
Onion Mixture
  • 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4-5 black peppercorns
  • 1 cinnamon stick, broken into 2 pieces
  • 3-4 green cardamom pods, muddled
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
Chicken Marinade
  • 4-5 boneless, skinless chicken thighs  - cut in 4 or more pieces
  • 1 tablespoon lemon or lime juice?
  • 1 jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce
Preparation
  1. Preheat oven at 350 degrees F.
  2. Mix ingredients for Chicken Marinade and set aside.
  3. In a casserole pan, add ingredients from Onion Mixture. Add ingredients from Chicken Marinade and spread on top of Onion Mixture.
  4. Layer saffron, cilantro, and mint. Layer rice and pour ghee on top.
  5. Sprinkle half cup of water on the rice and cover pan.
  6. Cook for 1 hour. This will allow enough time for the chicken and rice to cook and allow the flavors to blend. Check for doneness.
  7. Serve hot with raita and enjoy!

Butter Chicken Pasta

Ready in 25 minutes  |  Serves 2-3 people  |  Difficulty Easy
Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound of boneless and skinless chicken breast or thighs, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce
  • ½ cup heavy cream (optional)
  • Sea or kosher salt
  • 8 ounces cooked pasta of choice
Preparation
  1. In a sauce pan over medium high heat, melt butter. Season chicken with sea salt and sauté for 7-8 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Add one jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce to chicken, coating the pieces in the sauce. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 5-8 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. Finish with heavy cream if you wish. Toss in cooked pasta. Serve and enjoy!

Makhani Potatoes & Cauliflower

Ready in 25 minutes  |  Serves 2-3 people  |  Difficulty Easy
Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 medium potato, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce
  • ½ cup heavy cream (optional)
  • ½ cup chopped kale or arugula (optional)
  • Sea or kosher salt
  • Garlic naan or Cumin Rice (also see video)
Preparation
  1. In a sauce pan over medium high heat, melt butter. Season potatoes with sea salt and sauté for 5-7 minutes until golden brown. Add cauliflower. Stir occasionally
  2. Add one jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce to potatoes and cauliflower, coating the pieces in the sauce. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 10 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. If you wish, finish with heavy cream and kale or arugula for added green power. Serve with garlic naan or cumin rice and enjoy!

Butter Chicken Sandwich Wrap

Ready in 25 minutes  |  Serves 2-3 people  |  Difficulty Easy
Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound of boneless and skinless chicken breast or thighs, sliced  into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce
  • 1 medium red onion, sliced thin
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Sea or kosher salt
  • Garlic naan or tortilla flour wrap
  • ½ cup  raita
Preparation
  1. In a sauté pan over medium high heat, melt butter. Season season chicken with salt and cook for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Add one jar of Rupen’s® Makhani Simmer Sauce to chicken, coating the pieces in the sauce. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 8 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  3. Prepare garlic naan or tortilla wrap with raita. Add onion and lettuce.
  4. Place chicken on prepared naan or wrap. Fold or roll up and enjoy a delicious treat for lunch or midday snack with friends.
