The colors of Christmas make these pinwheels memorable. In this recipe, we are using kale and our red chili paste. The heat from the red chili paste makes these pinwheels spicy, along with cheese and the crunchiness of kale. Your guests would love to bite into these Christmas-themed pinwheels. Store-bought puff pastry helps make this easy appetizer.
Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 puff pastry sheet, preferably Pepperidge farm brand, thawed in the refrigerator
1/2 bottle Rupen's Tambda (Red Chili Paste)
2 large Kale leaves
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
Dust your kitchen countertop surface with some all-purpose flour.
Place the puff pastry on the countertop and gently roll length-wise to smoothen the puff pastry sheet.
Leaving one inch from all sides of the puff pastry sheet, apply red chili paste using a pastry brush. Drizzle with cheese.
Tear kale leaves into small pieces and place them on the cheese.
Tightly roll the puff pastry cheese to form a log. Pinch the ends to form a tight log and freeze for twenty minutes.
Pre-heat oven at 350 F.
Cut the log in 1/2 inch thick pinwheels and place the pinwheels on the cookie sheet.
Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown, and serve warm.
NOTE: You can make the pinwheel log in advance and freeze it. Before serving, you can thaw the log for 15 minutes, cut it into pieces, and bake.
